When seven Army Rangers disappear in hostile Pakistan, Michael Sutton must decide how far he is willing to go to save his brother's life. Home of the Brave is a fictional story based loosely on the biblical parable of the prodigal son.

For years, Michael Sutton and his parents, active members of the LDS Church, have been troubled by the rebellion of their brother and son, Taylor. When his Army Ranger unit goes missing in action, his family faces feelings of regret and helplessness. Days later, after a distressing phone call from Taylor, Michael determines to move heaven and earth to save his brother.

Taylor and the other Rangers struggle for survival in a thirdworld prison, but hope falters when they lose two of their fellow soldiers. Michael arrives in Pakistan and is betrayed, captured, and forced at gunpoint to assemble a madman's weapons. The Rangers escape with the unexpected help of a young woman, and the captors are dispatched. Finally reunited, Michael and Taylor surrender old resentments. In the book's conclusion, the Suttons and the Rangers come together over a Thanksgiving feast.

Home of the Brave is a page, turning suspense novel with multiple villains and storylines. While some violence is necessary to the story, it is not depicted in a graphic manner.
