In this painting I wanted to depict the Savior with open arms, welcoming and inviting us to come unto Him, the Prince of Peace. My intention was to create an expression of His softness, forgiveness, and understanding; for He knows us and seeks after us that we may find rest and peace in Him. I can imagine that in such an instance all other details and personal insecurities will fade away. Because of this I intentionally painted Him in white with a soft white background with no other details to distract us from Him. If we will follow Him and learn of Him we will truly find ourselves in His rest.
Simon Dewey has quietly sought to celebrate the life and mission of Jesus Christ. His artistic journey began in London, England as a freelance illustrator. In 1997 he entered the world of fine art with the release of "He Lives". Since then, Simon has become known for his exquisitely detailed and delicate portraits capturing moments from the tender to the magnificent. Many marvel at the masterful way he portrays the love and compassion in the face of the Savior and the devotion in the eyes of the believers. Simon lives in Alberta, Canada where he continues to explore new perspectives to inspire and bear witness of eternal principles.
