    Description:

"The sound shall go forth from this place [Kirtland] into all the world, and the occurrences of this day shall be.celebrated as a. time of rejoicing to the Saints of the Most High God."

From 1831 to 1838, the restored Church of Jesus Christ and its prophet, Joseph Smith, were headquartered in Kirtland, Ohio. In that area, remarkable events in the Church's history took place, including revelations on key gospel principles, the appearance of the Savior and other heavenly messengers, and the building of the first temple in this dispensation. During this time, missionaries converted thousands to the Church.

Joseph Smith's Kirtland relates the story of this period as seen through the eyes of more than one hundred people who lived there. Recorded in letters, journals, publications, and reminiscences, their observations and testimonies offer us a personal, intimate look at the Prophet and the Saints. We see their experiences living and working in Kirtland, their trials from economic problems and enemies of the Church, and their eventual exodus from Ohio in 1838. Finally we see a resurgence of the Church in Kirtland in the twentieth Century.

Ideal for teachers, students, or any member of the Church interested in the Saints and Joseph Smith during this important time period, this book offers valuable, personal accounts.
